Slant 6

Ladies, ladies, come over here and grab some chairs. Remember 1994? Think back, if you can, to that exciting era. So much was happening, then. That whole riot grrl thing was such a hoot, what with the gender insecurity, and third-wave feminism. Was it third wave? What wave are we on, now?
What's that you say? Ah, you weren't really a part of that, were you. Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, and Huggy Bear, they were boldly politicized. We want revolution! And, uh, we also want to be just commercially viable to sell records and live comfortably. I digress.
Anyway, that Ian McKaye guy did a great job of producing your album. It's very clean, almost spartan, shiny and crisp-sounding. He really boosted your surf-punk influences to the fore. The album sounds kind of disjointed, like it was a mash-up of 7" singles. It was? Man, am I perceptive.
I can see you girls are tiring of my stream-of-consciousness deductive exposition. Before you go, though, let me just add that I think this is better than Inzombia, your 'proper' follow-up. It's punchier and urgent; the ideal record to get me going for a night out, or to revel in the dissatisfaction of an unelected night by myself.
