Two weeks of sleeping until I please, which tips the alarm to past noon some days, playing indoor tennis, reading, writing, and attending to piles of paperwork that had accumulated on flat-surfaces has been a wonderful time of relaxation and repose. With the New Year newly established, I've considered some resolutions.
1. Back to school at Augsburg, starting January 7th. I have orientation tomorrow, and I couldn't be more excited. I'm thrilled to get back to an intellectual atmosphere, and continue my learning. Also, having someplace to go other than my bedroom/kitchen/living room will be a plus.
2. Tennis has made me realize how much I enjoy exercise, and how much more I want to continue working up an occasional sweat. Augsburg has workout facilities that I'll surely explore, getting the blood moving before, or after class, would be great for body and soul.
3. Continue to get out and see live music. Sara introduced me to the Fine Line Music Cafe, a lovely place I'll surely be seeing more of in 2011. Live music's what it's all about.
4. See more of my family. The holidays reaffirmed how much I love and respect them, and how important it is to make that manifestly clear at every opportunity. We have returned 'family night' to its rightful spot during the week.
5. Travel. This might be trickier, since living on the dole won't give me that much extra money, but I don't need to be Baron Von Pennypockets to enjoy small getaways, or even little 'mental vacations' to destinations closer to home, that provide changes in perspective.
6. Lighten up about my past. I've always fought with this one, but going back into college will be a fresh experience that will help me achieve it.
7. Stay fabulous. This one's easy enough, isn't it?
