Assorted Portland pictures, most of which are of anything green that came in our field of view, including a spectacular Japanese garden, above the city, and close to the renowned, prize-winning rose garden. Everything is so verdant and lush, it immediately brightened our moods. Moss covers exposed surfaces like a carpet. It was overcast about half the time, and when the sun emerged, gorgeous. The rain was a soft drizzle, and things from sidewalks to cars were clean from the constant showers.
Powell's Books is the largest independent bookstore in the nation, and has maps within to direct visitors to the sections. Amazing. Spent some money there, along with three trips to Jackpot Records. They also got some of my dough. We attended a street fair slash market down by the Willamette river on Saturday, where I bought a handsome fedora and watched street performers.
The doughnut Sara's holding is called the 'Grape Ape,' and is from Voodoo doughnut, off Burnside, that had lines around the block at all hours. Four doughnuts later, we discovered the place's popularity, and there's a picture of me getting intimate with a chocolate-glaze. Oh, and cheese. Tillamook isn't more than an hour West. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, and the hostel exceeded expectations in all areas of quiet and amenity, within striking distance of downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. Every morning, coffee across the street, and no real plans aside from walking our legs off to get a solid sense of the city, Portland, to be our home in three months. Now, we begin looking for places to live.
