More grim economic news this morning, as employment gains remain slower than expected, and the Fed will likely have to take further action to prevent the dreaded 'double-dip.' It's all good news for baseball players, which is why these statistics found on the Economic History Association's website are so interesting. Note that in the mid-70s, the average salary was only around $45,000, which jumped exponentially in just a decade. The article describes the events that have acted on MLB to create such insane salaries.
